Spray tower is an efficient gas-liquid mass transfer equipment widely used in industrial waste gas treatment (such as reducing CO ₂ emissions), dust control, and odor control. Its working principle is to achieve absorption (such as neutralization of acidic waste gas and alkaline absorption solution), adsorption or chemical reaction of pollutants through liquid spraying and full contact with gas. Spray towers have the characteristics of simple structure, easy operation, high purification efficiency (up to 90% or more), and strong adaptability.

The main structure of a spray tower includes a tower body (made of corrosion-resistant materials such as PP, FRP, or stainless steel to ensure long-term stable operation), a spray system (equipped with spiral nozzles or solid cone nozzles, with good atomization effect and wide coverage area), and a packing layer (to improve gas-liquid contact efficiency). The purified gas is discharged after being treated by a defogging device, and the absorption liquid can be recycled. Some saturated liquids need to be replaced regularly.

Working principle of spray tower

When dusty or oily waste gas passes through the spray tower, liquid medium is sprayed from a suitable position inside the tower (depending on the design), some of which are alkaline solution and some are sulfuric acid solution. If the exhaust gas contains acidity, choose alkaline solution spraying to neutralize the acidity. If the exhaust gas contains alkalinity, choose sulfuric acid solution absorption. The specific choice of acid-base solution depends on the nature of the exhaust gas and the company’s own situation. Waste gases without acidity or alkalinity but containing oil or dust can be treated by spraying a circulating aqueous solution. When the exhaust gas enters from the bottom of the tower, it comes into contact with the spray medium sprayed out by the spray tower. After contact, the exhaust gas or oil pollution is wrapped by water droplets, and the water droplets that wrap the pollutants collide again, increasing the surface area and gravity. As gravity increases, water droplets that encapsulate pollutants fall to the bottom of the spray tower under the influence of gravity. Heavier pollutants sink to the bottom of the tower, while lighter pollutants float on the surface of the circulating water.
